So you’re looking to find the perfect therapist?? Well, the short answer is there isn’t one but here are some steps to help find the perfect one for you.

So you’ve been around to multiple therapists and still haven’t found the right one, whats wrong with these people?  Well is it them or is it you?  Here are 3 things to ask yourself when looking for a therapist.

  1. Do they work around my needs?
  2. Have I been verbal of my needs and wants?
  3. Am I or have I been a proactive client?

Well as a therapist your needs are my priority, that being said I’m not a mind reader.   When you come in I usually ask what your objectives are for the session allowing me to maximize your massage experience.  Is the therapist office hours available during the times you are?  Most therapists have set hours although, like myself, many are willing to work around special needs or circumstances.  It’s best to call and ask no harm done you don’t know if you don’t ask.

You’ve come in for your massage and told therapist you are just here to relax but your back is aching and you don’t mention it well then your missing the point.  Let us know whats going on, especially if you aren’t feeling well or having new issues.  We won’t bite and we want your massage to the best for you at the time of your appointment.  By letting us know we can help relieve such pain or offer ways to help while you are in between massage sessions.  At the end of the day, we want all of our clients happy, pain-free and relaxed.

Lastly, be a proactive client.  Most therapists will always offer stretching options and techniques to help with daily aches and pains, so give them a try.  By being proactive with your care you will be surprised by what a simple modification in routine will do.  If a stretch is too painful then ask for an alternative or reduce the amount of time or pressure while attempting each stretch.  I try to show my clientele the stretch before they leave so they can try it for themselves allowing alternatives if necessary.  Invest in your health trust me your body will thank you for it.

If you find that after talking to your therapist things still haven’t changed then maybe that’s the time to look for another therapist.  Please remember things do take time.  When it comes to your body massage therapy along with being proactive will take time, in the end, it will be worth it.  Remember that the perfect therapist for you may not be for everyone else find what works for you and be prepared to invest a little time in your health.

As always if your looking for a massage call me and lets set something up!
